Decolonising Therapeutic Practice

BAATN, The Black African and Asian Therapy Network (2025)

Monique attended this short online course between September - December 2025, which involved weekly seminars and group facilitated self reflective sessions.

Learning was centred on developing listening skills and self-awareness to work with people affected by European domination, such as enslavement and colonialism, especially in the British context.

A final presentation was delivered on completion of the course.

Artist Research Day

Glasgow University (2025)

Monique was invited to speak about her practice with Professor Anna Feigenbaum, Open and Honest Design alongside other creatives.

Monique attended this 8 week online course in the summer of 2025.

‘This was an informative course which offered an interesting series of group seminars and discussion offering an overview of the UK Arts in Health landscapes. I have quite a few books that I have yet to finish including author Daisy Fancourt’s Arts in Health.

Art and Psychodynamic Thinking - Foundation Diploma (2024 - 25)

Goldsmiths University

Monique attended this one year course between September 2024 to April 2025.

The course consisted of seminars relating to the history of Western European Art and European theory and history of psychotherapy and art therapy, with theory based essay on the self.

The second term compiled of 8 weeks of group studio art-making which was experiential learning and finally further seminars with case studies from guest lecturers from Licensed art therapists in the field.

Art Therapy Summer School

University of Roehampton (2024)

Monique attended this one week short course in August 2024

The course consisted of experiential learning relating to Art Psychotherapy which was intensive with two tutors from the university.

Marbling Workshop (2024)

City & Guild

Monique attended a few days of a marbling printing workshop hosted at London City and Guild.

Experimental contemporary techniques using acrylic paint.

University Guest Lecture

London College of Communication (2023)

Monique was invited to speak as a guest lecturer at London College of Communications BA Visual Communications Course.

University Guest Lecture + Creative Session

King’s College London (2023)

Monique was invited to speak as a guest lecturer at King’s College London to students from MA Digital Communications Course about her long covid advocacy and creative practice.

There was also a brief interactive participatory session in which students were encouraged to respond to prompts and conceptualise and design a creative forum.

Monique joined Rachael House and five other artists; Holly Casio, Natasha Natarajan, Robert Bidder, Candice Purwin, and Jess Hannar to read live comics online with an audience.

‘This series of events was called Drawn Out funded by the arts council and in dialogue with Rachael House’s book release. is hosting Drawn Out combined, their sequential drawings and comics cover class, race, unions, fat politics, having long covid, queer politics, disability and more, as well as  ways the pandemic has impacted on them and others. These observations are rich, funny, angry and compassionate.’
